Low Cost Evaporation / Concentration

An alternate to MEE Evaporators

Pollution control authorities regulate the industry sector for the  Zero-Liquid- Discharge of their wastewater. Industry uses Multi-Effect Evaporator to concentrate waste streams/ process streams. High costs of evaporation are a deterrent due to increased steam consumption. VAPOCAV uses intensive air-liquid contact to evaporate/condense these streams. This makes VAPOCAV a low-cost solution.

Operation

VAPOCAV system is a unique process intensification device which uses intensive gas/liquid contact.  Mechanisms like venturi affect cavitation, convection, and vacuum generation in the vortex. The liquid gas partial pressures at the interphase contribute to an efficient evaporation mechanism. Minimal energy is put into the system, and evaporation takes from a liquid into gas.

The system’s capacity can be increased phase-wise due to its modular construction. M

Cavitation plates are placed like a tower – and the liquid flows down along the incline as the fluid passes downwards; the gas coming out of the cavitation holes creates a swirl with the air.  Air comes through the gaps due to the suction blower, which creates a negative head. The gas and liquid mix in this cyclonic effect becomes saturated with vapour exchange from another component.

Fresh air/gas keeps passing through the cavitation holes, which helps the liquid get into the gas as a vapour phase.

External heat can be provided with heaters depending on the site conditions. If any waste heat is available elsewhere in the plant, the heat enthalpy can be effectively utilised for evaporation to speed up the process or increase capacity.
