Catalytic Hydro-oxidation CHD-Ox

Refractory COD: The Oxidation Challenge

CHD-Ox is an advanced oxidation-based treatment process from Diva Envitec Pvt Ltd designed for the removal of toxic and refractory COD from industrial wastewater. Using catalytic hydro-oxidation enhanced with nanomaterials, the system improves biodegradability by breaking down complex organic pollutants such as antibiotics, pesticides, and micro-pollutants before biological treatment stages like MBBR.

Catalytic Oxidation Pathway & Reaction Mechanism

  1. Advanced oxidation reactions

generates highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (•OH) that oxidize and break down stable and toxic organic compounds.

  2. Cavitation enhancement

pressure variations create microbubbles that collapse, producing localized high temperature and pressure zones, intensifying oxidation reactions.

  3. Nanobubble technology

nanobubbles provide a large surface area and sustained presence in water, enhancing the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS).

  4. Catalytic action

nanomaterial-based catalysts accelerate oxidation kinetics, improving degradation efficiency of refractory COD.

  5. Biodegradability improvement

complex, non-biodegradable pollutants are converted into simpler, biodegradable compounds suitable for downstream biological treatment.

Engineering Considerations

Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are increasingly adopted for treating refractory organics that are not effectively removed by conventional biological systems. CHD-Ox enhances treatment efficiency by combining oxidation, cavitation, and nanotechnology to enable safer and more reliable downstream processing.
